Property Taxes

Property taxes are not very fair. People are being taxed on some 'what if' factors...like "What if your house becomes so expensive you can't afford to live in it?" Property taxes are a large source of revenue, and not necessarily equitable.
We can learn, think and research--we can find a better source of money. Taking it from home owners has become too easy. There are alternatives. How about spending less? Take a look at all the MN state agencies listed on the internet--we could create a few more just for grins and giggles. Perhaps we should rename our home property with a creative 'agency' name, and apply for money FROM the government. Or another serious question might be, "What if we just had fewer state agencies taking tax money?" We might have a surplus every year...like this year.

Being an advocate for the people..that's what I do.

Innocent until proven guilty needs to be re-established in America.

Common sense lies within the conservative agenda...people must be free to tangle with government and WIN. When government wins every battle with the people, we all lose, together.

One senior citizen can't get a townhouse she's lived in for six years re-homesteaded. Dorothy McClung (Ramsey County Property Tax Queen) states the senior must get statements from her neighbors that she has inhabited her townhouse for the past years--so she did that. Next she was ordered to get an abatement signed and delivered to Dorothy, or else no homesteaded property.
When the senior's family got involved Dorothy was rude, and they were told, "Go to tax court!" When government gets it wrong they should apologize and suspend negative actions--not demand that the persecuted citizen make them look good by following their ORDERS.

The senior citizen had never moved, but had a box number in Alexandria, MN where she had her son help with her taxes, and he requested her business mail to come to him. Now Ramsey county's Dorothy, using a manual from "The Wizard of Odds" believes she has the right to cover her mistake with paper work for the poor, harrassed senior citizen, who never went anywhere. Who went somewhere..it was Dorothy and staff that went beyond reality. When they discovered they were wrong they needed to APOLOGIZE NOT PUSH THE ISSUE. Then Dorothy and staff compounded the issue and stated it doesn't cost that much to be non-homestead anymore, just a few hundred dollars a year, maybe $300. That is a month of pills--really, Ms. McClung.

Why would I take on Dorothy and staff for a senior? That's who I am. I've done it before as an advocate for new citizens and old citizens, and I'll do it again. Government is not always right, and the citizen should not have to take on the whole government bureaucracy to get their rights, when the government's representative did it wrong in the first place.

It's not just Enron that gets it wrong--it's government that bullies it's sovereign people. Change government for good with Rae Hart Anderson. She'll fight for you when you're being overpowered by the government that should empower you.
